The “HUA YAN” series started being developed in 2000, when I was getting ready for the Dragon Year, considered the most powerful Chinese zodiac sign, a fabulous year to prosper. Even though it has to do with China, this series portrays the old Eastern horizon with tall mountains, which have been growing for centuries. It is clear that these pieces are inspired by the fabulous Chinese art. The rice paper used in some pieces comes from the East, giving a very special effect to the watercolor. I remade the series the last year because it was also a Dragon Year. In China, the zodiac signs are annual and a new cycle begins every 12 years.
